 WHAT TO EXPECT

When you arrive you will be warmly received by a member of our welcome team. If you have children you will be directed to our children’s ministry check-in area.

Our services last about 90 minutes. In the first half of the service we’ll spend time singing, praying, and reading God’s Word. In the second half one of our pastors will give an expositional message from the Bible, and then we will celebrate the Lord’s Supper.

Regarding attire, you may find some people dressed in jeans and others in suits. We encourage you to wear what makes you feel most comfortable. How you dress is far less important to us than your relationship with God.

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY

Children’s Ministry will be provided for ages 6 months through 5 years old. Classes will be offered for ages 6-23 months (for the entire service) and for 2-5 year olds (from start of the sermon until the end of service). Because older children will be leaving during the service, please stop by the check-in desk to register your child before the service starts. The check-in table will be located near the book vending machine, to the right of the main entrance doors.

Cheverly Baptist Church uses the Gospel Story curriculum for ages 2 and up. This curriculum is designed to walk through the Bible over a span of three years, teaching children that God’s Word is one continuous story pointing to Jesus as the hero. Though the littlest ones won’t be using a formal curriculum, we look forward to ensuring their safety, singing hymns and spiritual songs with them, and reading some simple Bible story picture books with them.

MEMBERSHIP

The Bible teaches that membership in a local church is one of the most basic ways that Christians follow Jesus. In fact, it is so basic that the authors of the New Testament simply assume that every Christian will be part of a local church. The reason for this is simple. The local church is at the heart of God’s plan to save sinners through the gospel of his son, Jesus Christ.

Consider attending an upcoming membership class. You’ll learn about what we believe, the type of church community we’re trying to build, why joining a church is essential to your growth as a Christian, and what life at CBC is like. While attending membership classes is required to join CBC, attending the class will not obligate you to join. Lunch and childcare will be provided. Please RSVP below.
