Tony Merritt, Jr.
Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Tony came to know the Lord during his senior year of high school. The Lord clearly showed Tony his own self-righteousness and the righteousness of Jesus Christ. Tony was an active member of International Bible Baptist Church, and also met his wife (Erline) there.
Tony worked as a teacher in South Florida, and in England. He and his family moved to London, England to serve as bi-vocational missionaries in 2014. They were members of Slade Evangelical Church, and helped to plant Abbey Wood Community Church. Tony and his family later moved back to the States for the Capitol Hill Baptist Church Pastoral Internship in 2017. They then went back to Miami to help plant Kendall Baptist Church, where he served as a lay elder.
In 2020, Tony went back to International Bible Baptist Church (now Global Church) to serve as a Pastoral Resident, and to complete his MDiv from Southeastern Seminary. Tony now serves as the Associate Pastor of Cheverly Baptist Church. Tony has been happily married to Erline for over 13 years, and they have 4 beautiful and fun children (Olivia, Eden, Alan & Timothy).

Jonathan Stockeland
Jonathan had the inestimable privilege of being raised in a Christian home and accepting Christ as his Savior at a young age. During childhood he lived in 5 states, but his deep roots in North Dakota make that his home state. Early in adulthood Jonathan enlisted in the Marine Corps which was a profoundly formative season, helping to establish and deepen his faith in God as well as to give him direction for career opportunities. While living in Minnesota he met his wife, Lianna, and they have 4 children together. In 2015 Jonathan and his family moved to Cheverly, where he works for DHS. They have been CBC members since 2018, and this local body of believers has been a tremendous blessing in the lives of Jonathan and his family. Jonathan enjoys his day-to-day work and serving in the church, but when he is not doing that he loves to be with his family and enjoys hiking, biking, riding his moped named Sojourner, and trying to run the hills of Cheverly.

Ryan Payne
Ryan was born in Louisiana, then moved to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, which he calls his hometown. God saved Ryan as a teenager through an evangelistic youth ministry of First Baptist Church where he was patiently discipled through the faithful service of men in the church, youth choir, and multiple ministry opportunities. Ryan graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University in 2002, where he met his wife, Angela. After college, Ryan and Angela spent a few years in East Asia before Ryan went to law school at Seattle University School of Law. Ryan and Angela started their family in Seattle and have three children. Since graduating from law school, the Paynes have had the privilege of living in England and North Dakota before settling in Maryland. Ryan is grateful to serve as an elder at CBC. He also enjoys football, coffee, and hikes with his family.

It was at UCLA that Luke met his wife Erin before doing missions work in Japan and receiving his M.A. in Security Studies from Georgetown University. Luke and Erin are blessed with four children and have called Cheverly home since 2010. Luke works in government relations for a tech company. In his downtime, he enjoys spending time with his family and playing almost any sport.
Jon Malone
Jon was born and raised in Oklahoma City, OK, as the third of seven children in a committed Christian family. God used his parents, siblings, youth group, and friends in middle school to bring Jon to saving faith in Christ, as well as to teach him what repentance from sin and trust in Christ really looked like. Jon completed his undergraduate (English literature) and Master’s (English Education) degrees at the University of Oklahoma, where he met and married Laura at a local church in Norman, OK. They moved to the D.C. area in 2012, and Jon works in the ESL field with international students at the University of Maryland, where he is also a Ph.D. candidate in Second Language Acquisition. They have been members of CBC since it was planted in 2018, and it has been a great joy to serve with and labor alongside the members in the work of the ministry. Jon enjoys reading books (mostly written long ago), playing sports with his four sons, and conversations about ideas in education, history, and linguistics.
