Larry Lazarus
Larry counts it an honor and privilege to serve the flock of Cheverly Baptist Church, having been installed as its lead pastor in January of 2025. Prior to that he served for sixteen years as a teaching elder at Joy Community Fellowship (EFCA) in Pitman, NJ.
Larry is exceedingly grateful to be charged with the weighty responsibility of studying and preaching God’s Word. But he is even more grateful for knowing the Lord and being saved by His amazing grace. Growing up in a Jewish family outside of Philadelphia, Larry came to embrace Christ as his Lord and Savior during his senior year at Penn State University. After spending a year completing an internship with the Chicago Bulls, he moved back to State College, PA, where he met his amazing wife, Michelle. Together, they have three delightful children (Halle, Felicity, and Noah).
In his free time, Larry enjoys a morning cup of coffee with Michelle, NFL and college football, playing golf, and going on long walks to pray and/or listen to sermons and podcasts.
Jonathan Stockeland
Jonathan had the inestimable privilege of being raised in a Christian home and accepting Christ as his Savior at a young age. During childhood he lived in 5 states, but his deep roots in North Dakota make that his home state. Early in adulthood Jonathan enlisted in the Marine Corps which was a profoundly formative season, helping to establish and deepen his faith in God as well as to give him direction for career opportunities. While living in Minnesota he met his wife, Lianna, and they have 4 children together. In 2015 Jonathan and his family moved to Cheverly, where he works for DHS. They have been CBC members since 2018, and this local body of believers has been a tremendous blessing in the lives of Jonathan and his family. Jonathan enjoys his day-to-day work and serving in the church, but when he is not doing that he loves to be with his family and enjoys hiking, biking, riding his moped named Sojourner, and trying to run the hills of Cheverly.
